I started the week in sandals and am now ending it in boots. I guess it is finally starting to be fall. In between the sandals and boots, however, I did get to wear my new Mary Janes, which are super-cute. I also got some pantyhose, thinking that they might make the shoes pinch a little bit less. This was definitely something new for me -- I don't think I had worn pantyhose in at least a decade, and never by choice. In fact, I didn't even know where to buy them, and kept being puzzled by the fact that I wasn't seeing them in the shoe stores or the clothing stores, until a friend told me to try a drug store. When I did, I was amazed by both the variety and the price of the pantyhose. There were just too many options -- control top, no waistband, extra-sheer, energizing -- and I didn't know what any of that meant! They also cost more than I was expecting; to me, pantyhose always seemed very flimsy -- wear them once and you'll spring a run -- so I was suprised to see that they start at $4. Nonetheless, I bought two pairs (you know, in case of runs), and wore them yesterday with my Mary Janes. They definitely did the trick of making the shoes slide on more easily, and I felt somehow just a little more professional and buttoned-up in them. It is funny, though, how each pair of shoes seems to pinch in a different place. I had band-aids and moleskin over the blisters on my heel that I had gotten from the sandals, yet by the end of the day the Mary Janes were threatening to cut into the top of my foot. Do men have these problems too?
